School District of Ashland faculty, administration, Charter Council Members and Educational consultants have been working to prepare 3 DPI charter grants for our district. Here's a brief summary of the grants being applied for. Grants must be approved by the School Board and submitted by April 15th. Awards are announced in August 2014.
Implementation Renewal Grant for AECS ($170,000) - This is the 3 grant for AECS and is intended to fund the training, support, and equipment needed to assist new schools as they develop.
Implementation Grant for OPS ($170,000) - This is the second grant for OPS. The year of planning continues with funding from the Planning Grant. The implementation grant funds continuing staff development and equipment to get this new school started.
Planning Grant for grades 9-12 ($150,000) - This grant allows funding for researching, planning, and development of a new school, by faculty, district staff, community, board, and council. This grant continues the intent of the ASD to continue the project based and personalized learning approach while innovating with community partners to allow students the skills for career exploration.
